Call for Industrial Papers

The conference theme of Web Intelligence (WI) has found applications in the industry in a number of new and emerging areas, from Internet of Things over Social Networks to Swarm Intelligence and Robotics. WI‘17 aims to cover leading research that both deepens the understanding of computational, logical, cognitive, physical as well as business and social foundations of the future Web, and enables the development and application of intelligent technologies. For the industry track, the organisers are calling for submissions of original work reporting about already implemented applications of or documenting plausible future use-cases for Web Intelligence. Of particular interest is how topics related to the theme of the conference can be leveraged to extract as much value as possible from the combination of so-called “Big Data” and the “Internet of Things” (IoT).

Faced with the possibility of billions of connected devices contributing vast amounts of data to an already challenging volume of information, it is becoming increasingly critical to develop novel adaptive methods to automate pattern recognition and correlation, under penalty of being submerged by a “data tsunami”.

As public and private sectors alike are both accelerating the deployment of interconnected devices, it falls down to members of the Web Intelligence community to ensure that this rapid inflation of information availability and processing capability translates into genuinely “smart” enterprise, infrastructure and society. This will be best achieved through practical, targeted applications of fundamental principles, examples of which will be collected together in the industry track. We invite reports of completed projects and implementation as well as position papers on ongoing proof of concept deployment and trials.

    Paper Submission and Publication

WI’17 solicits work submitted as a regular paper (limited to 6-8 pages) or short paper (limited to 4 pages) in ACM 2-column format. Each paper will be peer-reviewed on the basis of relevance, originality, significance and clarity. A relevant selection of accepted papers will be published in the conference proceedings by ACM and indexed by EI. Furthermore, selected WI’17 papers will be invited to submit extended versions for publication in Web Intelligence journal and other international journals.
Papers need to be formatted according to the ACM formatting guidelines, published here:

They have to be submitted to:
